The empty days of an Athiest.
2007-12-25T14:38:00 - Mens Fashion Blog |
I bet you are all eating ginger bread now while tossing a piece of ham to the dog. Me, I’m doing none of that because I’m an atheist and don’t celebrate the birth of Christ. Christmas tend to be rather boring for me since the world is practically at a standstill. All my friends are home with their families, the gym as well as all stores are closed and TV is a bore. Luckily I have downloaded all seasons of Sex and the City except for the third one, and they will help me accelerate the time this evening. So far I have watched 9 episodes and can officially say that I’m an addict. Like I had anticipated the show revolves around sex, shoes and alcohol, but most importantly sex. It that first TV-series or movie I have ever seen which depicts sexual relationships, it’s very entertaining to say the least. Even though most of what is seen in the series is a bit exaggerated, you can actually relate to some it depending on your experience in the field of love and sex. If I want to enlarge my bank of knowledge I turn to podcasts. Ever since I bought my Microsoft Zune 80 three weeks ago, I have become a podcast junkie. I download most of my material from iTunes since it has the biggest and most organized library of podcasts. Video podcasts are what I tend to download since I want visual input as well. There is good material out there for everyone. My favorite types of podcasts are those that are fashion, gadget, marketing/investment and news related. Men.style.com has a very watch worthy podcast which you guys should check out. Now days I always finish the day off by watching podcasts on my Zune 80 in bed before I fall asleep, it very cozy. Thankfully the Zune has a Podcast section where all the podcasts automatically end up separated in two audio and video podcasts colums, in other words I don’t have to dig for them through all my songs. I love my Zune 80 and it feels exhilarating using something different than an iPod. The sound quality is phenomenal with my Shure e2c ear buds, every song I play sounds exhilarating and the no matter how much I turn up the volume the sound never distorts, the quality is very high-end. Never before have I experienced such audio perfection on a portable device. The interface is very intuitive and easy to use, I don’t miss my iPod Photo at all. On Wednesday my sister will be retuning California with a Zune A/V-cable so that I can play and view all the content on my Zune on a TV, it sports a 480p output meaning that I can DVD-quality like images on the telly. Enough with the gibberish now, here’s a shot of my zune with it’s new desktop background. Happy holidays!! |

Vass USA
2008-01-21T17:30:00 - A Suitable Wardrobe |
It was nearly six years ago that Gabor Halmos and Andrew Harris introduced hand-made Vass shoes onto the internet forums, opening an important new market in North America for a small Budapest-based shoemaker.
Rather surprisingly, it's a new market that likes English-inspired shoes. In Hungary, 90% of Vass sales are from its 'traditional' collection of distinctive bluchers, comprised of the |

Project Runway's Asian: Fierce but No Cigar
2008-01-24T09:32:24 - Village Voice |

Here is a picture of the mean Asian randomly sewing a bunch of denim onto the bottom of a jacket she probably snatched out of someone else's arms to begin with because, as she likes to announce, she's competitive.
Well, even though the fat guy made a dress that would only be appropriate for the love interest in a Color Me Badd video, he's hanging in for another week. It seems Bravo couldn't resist a bitch-off between Jillian and Victorya's heinous coat-dress-things. Jillian's might have been even uglier, but at least it seemed harder to make, and there you have it.

Ankle socks + cage heels = spring's ankle boot?
2008-02-05T17:56:00 - Fashion Toast |

Clever, clever. Displeased as I was with when presented with Blake Lively's blinding smile on the new Teen Vogue (where's the Leighton love??), all signs of crossness melted away when I flipped to the Love Song editorial. Soft tie dyes, lavenders, and blues mixed with leather and chains? Yumm. A closer examination of what seemed to intricately patterned booties revealed them to merely be ankle socked sandals. A brilliant way to tone down heels that might otherwise feel too nighttime for frequent donning. I love styling ideas that can be discovered in one's existing closet. Will try. Unlike the purple fur shrug in Exhibit C. Shudder.

The Naked Truth
2008-02-04T06:55:27 - Stylish Thought |
Only in fashion and art can nudity be justified so easily. And only in fashion and art can the nudity of “average” people be displayed in such beautiful portrayals. Looking through the new issue of Trace magazine, True Beauty issue, it features an entirely nude layout (not nude like without words, all those featured in the pages are nude) It’s a celebration of the beauty of the human form in everyday people.

Much like most 20-somethings (or just people in general), I’m not quite comfortable with my body and the thought of baring it all is one that makes me break out in a cold sweat and scew my face in horror. But with the constant and current debate on body image and the role fashion and models play, there has been a surge of body acceptance and self-love promotion.
Take the new show, How to Look Good Naked hosted by the ambivalently flamboyant Carson Kressley. The entire premise is to make natural women become comfortable in their own skin and with their bodies. I haven’t had a chance to watch an entire episode but from the previews it seems like a whole lot of outer work to make the inner shine and I wonder how Carson Kressley (what is he, a man drone) is qualified to make women feel good, (beside making us laugh) But I encourage anything that works to eliminate the stereotypical beauty standards in fashion (and the world for that matter).

Bang Crazy
2008-02-08T15:39:22 - You Look Fab |
The 60’s fringe (or “bangs”) is back with a vengeance. This hairstyle trend started coming through last year and who better to sport it so perfectly than Reese Witherspoon at last year’s Golden Globes. Katie Holmes created her fringe a few months ago and celebrities like Heidi Klum, Liv Tyler, Agnes Deyn and Kate Moss have followed suit.
I love this look. I think it’s a refreshing change from the bouncy longer layers we’ve been seeing for years. It’s modern, practical and pretty. I think straightish hair works well with this style, but I’m unsure which face shape is best. I’ve always thought that my forehead was too small and my head the wrong shape for bangs, but I recently added a fringe to my short crop and it seems to work for me.
I say give bangs a bash if you dare. You might be surprised with how nice they look. In the worst case scenario you grow out your fringe. It’s a painful thought, I know, but perhaps worth the risk.
